Wisconsin Ecology Faculty & Departments

UW-Madison is home to one of the largest, most diverse communities of academic ecologists anywhere. These renowned scientists teach and conduct research on innumerable aspects of ecology, from the microbial to the global scale. Their interests range from restoration ecology to paleoecology, from the ecology of viruses and diseases to the use of information technologies such as remote sensing and geographic information systems to understand ecological interactions. Ecologists are represented in more than 20 departments and programs on the Madison campus. The achievements of UW-Madison's current ecologists, like those of their renowned predecessors, are recognized around the world.
